Columbia Honors Sherman Brown Jr.

More than a hundred friends, family, and other Columbians joined Sherman’s wife Vicki, long-time friend Bill Clark, and Rep. Kip Kendrick at the August 29 dedication of the Sherman Brown Jr. Memorial Highway. Kendrick was responsible for the legislation passed by the State Legislature and signed into law that designated the section of Providence Road between I-70 and the Business Loop where Sherman and his eight brothers and sisters grew up.

Sherman Brown was larger than life. He was a mentor to many and friend to more. He served this country, his family, and our community. The Sherman Brown Jr. Memorial Highway is a fitting tribute to him and his family. It was my absolute honor to help make this happen. Our community is a better place because of Sherman. –– Rep. Kip Kendrick
