Ethics Reform: In It For The Long Haul

The failure of serious ethics reform to succeed in the Missouri General Assembly this year will not deter Rep. Kip Kendrick. He plans to refile his comprehensive ethics bills next year, including addressing the serious and growing problem of dark money in Missouri politics. With the passage of Amendment 2 in November 2016 and subsequent ruling by the US Western District Court, which left the $2600 per candidate per election limit in place, but largely gutted its other provisions, the opportunity for dark money to further proliferate in Missouri in greatly increased.
