Rep. Kip Kendrick spoke to a rousing crowd of more than 100 Democrats last night in Monroe City, his hometown. Folks gathered from Monroe, Ralls, Shelby, and Marion Counties to join the event hosted by the Monroe County Democratic Club. Kendrick shared his experiences in his first session in the Missouri House, the challenges we face as a state, and the ways he has found to be effective as a member of the super-minority in Jefferson City.
Questions were predictable––what we all care about: MoDOT funding and infrastructure issues, Medicaid expansion, attacks on the MO Department of Conservation, potential cuts to unemployment insurance, and a lack of funding for both higher and K-12 education.
His responses to the questions were thoughtful and honest, but they didn’t paint a rosy picture. Regardless, it’s always good to go back home!
